AI Agents with Bounded Authority: How We Run Marketplace Operations

Platform AI is getting stronger. Our agents work inside agreed limits, and people decide the rest.

Marketplaces move faster than any team can watch. Bids shift by the hour, promotions overlap, stock runs low over a weekend. We use AI agents to watch all of it continuously, and we keep people accountable for every decision that matters.

Platform AI is arriving

On 23 September 2026, Amazon announced new capabilities for Seller Assistant, including memory of a seller's patterns, continuous automations that run when the seller is not logged in, and a beta plugin, initially for US sellers, that connects seller data to external AI assistants including Claude. Walmart has been testing an AI assistant for advertisers, Marty, since early 2026. These tools are useful, and we use them where they fit.

What our agents do

  • Advertising: daily proposals on search terms, bids and budgets.
  • Promotions: every coupon and deal checked against margin before launch.
  • Inventory: stock cover and inbound shipments, with early replenishment alerts.
  • Listings: content drafted and localised for each marketplace from local research.
  • Returns and reviews: reasons and signals turned into product and listing fixes.

Bounded authority

Each agent has a written charter. Inside agreed numeric bands, such as bid and budget changes within limits or adding negative keywords, it may act on its own. Anything outside a band, any price change, any new listing and anything touching billing is prepared with a way to reverse it and escalated to a person.

Several time scales

Budgets are checked within the day, bids daily, performance weekly, and keyword strategy over longer cycles. Each review looks at return, not revenue alone.

Where people decide

Agents propose; our marketplace team reviews, approves and explains. Every change is logged, every agent identifies itself to the platforms it uses, and every partner receives a regular report written in plain language.
